Frederic Erk was born in 1970 in Paris, France. He has worked as soldier, translator, photographer, tank diver, and forester. He was for six year researcher and writer for Panzer Commander 2 project, including three years as consultant to Saumur Cavalry School documentation centre. He lives with his family in the Mayenne Angevine. A project of his there is turning his twenty-five wooded acres into an ecological demonstration project to show how sustainable logging and a high quality of life can be maintained with a minimum drain on the total energy and water resource system.
