Chef Opérateur, Photographe : Industrie cinématographique
Nice Area, France
I am a Cinematographer and Photographer specializing in Digital Acquisition and workflow with a strong background in analog organic film. I try to bring Filmic craft with cutting edge knowledge of storytelling technology together to make projects full of Art, Passion, and Soul.
Cameraman - After living the transition of the Audio world from analog to digital, I told myself that if I ever saw that again I would put myself at the extreme of the new technology. So 16 years later here I am. I focused on Digital Acquisition. I owned a sony f900/3H HDCAM for 5 years and now own 2 Red One’s (#461 and #3376). I am working mostly in the camera dept. as a Director of Photography (Chef Opérateur); but also light, direct, edit, color correct, develop and write scripts. I am currently working on developing a few feature film projects and also do some freelance feature work (en français aussi, long et court métrage), commercials and anything else that is interesting to shoot.
Photographer - first in film in high school and university up to today with my canon d20 and 18 to 50 to 500mm lenses. I shoot mostly scenics, macros, interesting places and characters I come across. I sell my images for stock on DLS. Check it out. I have images with my code BJC and a number. You can see everything I have on there by searching for BJC in the search box.

I created this to mention projects in development (i.e. unsigned promises). As a producer and cameraman a lot of work goes into the development of projects. I work with Writers, Directors, Producers, Camera Companies, Lighting Companies, Software Companies, ... All this adds up to a lot of unsung work that is not on my Reel or CV. Here are some very current examples as of MAY 2009.
I have a Sci-Fi Blue Screen Project that is affiliated with the Sci-Fi channel in the USA and this has the promise of a feature behind it.
[This went very well and has a Movie of the week possibility coming up, Update OCTOBER 2009].
I have a Short French Film that is associated with Luc Besson and the Digital Factory; this opens up a lot of commercial contacts in Paris.
I am working on shooting my own project with the same crew as last year for the 48 hour film project (fun but not creative it was more of a producing exercise then something creative - so time to move on).
There are some dramatic projects developing with the non-for-profit foundation I am working with also.
I am looking to meet more directors and producers and for Dramatic Feature Film Projects. I am also interested in documentaries and commercials.
Going to the Cannes Film Festival to have some meetings.

January 1993 — Present (17 years )
This is my company name. I am an independent Cinematographer and Photographer. I have been at the cutting edge (and beyond in development) of Digital Acquisition for Motion Pictures since 93. I was one of the first 30 people certified by sony for the f900. I owned an f900 and now have a RED camera. I am technologically agnostic - and love all forms of Acquisition and Imaging. I work on 8, 16, 35mm, Sony, Viper, RED, Arri, and Phantom. My principal concern is the correct tool for the job and above all a creative and artistic representation of Visual Stories.
B.A. , Psychology, Comparitive Mysticism, Media , 1992 — 1997
During School I was a traveling musician (singer and producer), I owned a live sound and recording company, I taught yoga, and sold the company for a profit at the end of the story. This is where I saw the transition between analog and digital in the sound world and told myself I would stay at the bleeding edge of it if I ever saw it again... That is what prompted me to move into digital cinema. I finished university with a double major and a minor with a 3.91 gpa.
